Mothers day?!?!?

In the Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His last and final messenger
Asalamu alaykum(peace be upon you)

Mothers day. A day where you appreciate your mother by bringing her breakfast in bed, flowers, and gifts.
Every sensible Muslim should be asking themselves, Wait! Shouldn't we be doing those things for our mother every single day? Including making Dua (supplications) for her to be entered into jannah and to have her mistakes pardoned. Why then has it been given a day of the year when it should be year round?

Let us remember the hadeeths(saying/actions) of our blessed prophet Muhammed ( May Allah shower His peace blessing upon him)

A man came to the Prophet and said,‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

The Prophet Muhammad said, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him: Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother (Ahmad, Nasai).

Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting with The Messenger Of Allah (peace be upon him) when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! do my parents have rights over me even after they have died? And Rasulullah said: Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness and Mercy, fulfill the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah)

Both parents are honoured  by Allah subhaanahu wa a'aala in the Holy Qur'an. Don't be mistaken.

Surah 17 Ayah 23

Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.

Surah 6 Ayah 151

Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

May Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala bless our parents, May He subhaanahu wa ta'aala pardon their mistakes and grant them the highest place in Jannah. Amiin

Women under the shade of Islam

Today I have a book recommendation as opposed to a video. This is a book I'm reading and am not yet finished. Misconceptions and stereotypes are often aided by ignorance. When people don't know and don't understand they begin to assume. Knowledge is important for every Muslim male or female. This book is great in that it outlines the things that we really need to know about the fundamental ie Belief, prayer, fasting, purification.

Hijab

Peace be upon you.

The Hijab is the Muslim womens convering or veil. It is her modesty and it shows anyone and everyone who looks at her that she is no ordinary women but that she is a women who has submitted herself to Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala. The Hijab is a protection of her modesty and her chastity. Despite living in a society full of people who think that being modest and chaste is strange many Muslimahs continue to wear their hijabs and thats because they where it for the sake of Allah Subhaanahu wa ta'aala Insha Allah. They are obeying the Command of Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala when He says in Holy Qur'an

Surah 33 Ayah 59

"O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e.screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Surah 24 verse 31

"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss."

Shaytaan is always plotting and planning to distract people from the path of Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala and so he makes people think that wearing tonz of make up and wearing a super shiny/sparkle scarf around your neck is proper hijab. hijab has guidlines.

peace be upon you
